============================================================================= *The Lightning Gauntlet Patch* for Doom ][ by Greg Kegel ============================================================================= This patch will replace the chainsaw in Id Software's Doom ][ with the lightning gauntlet (electric gloves) from Heretic, by the same company. I put a fair amount of time into this patch and I hope you like it as much I do. **************************************************************************** DISCLAIMER This patch is not a product of Id, anything that may happen from this program is not their responsibility, and they will NOT give technical support for this program. I am not liable for any damage(s) this patch may cause to you hard- ware or software--but it shouldn't do anything at all. This patch is not under any warantee of any kind. This patch was tested on a computer with the requirements for DOOM, and is not gauranteed to work on anything more or less, regaurdless of whether or not DOOM does work on your computer. LEGAL STUFF DOOM is a copyright of ID Software. Yet another graphic file! GAUNTLET.TXT =The file you're reading right now GAUNTLET.BAT =The batch file that installs/removes/plays the patch GAUNTLET.WAD =The wad file with the sounds for the lightning gauntlet DMGRAPH.EXE =Dmgraph v1.1-a creation of Bill Neisius To install the gauntlet: -Make a directory under DOOM2 (or wherever Doom 2 is located) called "GAUNTLET". -Put all the graphics files (*.gif) from this .zip file into the "GAUNTLET" directory you just made. -Put the rest of the files from the .zip into the directory where you run Doom 2 from. -Run the gauntlet batch file (gauntlet.bat)--it'll do the rest. The batch file will prompt you with choices before installing, and it will also remove the gauntlet if you so choose (heaven forbid!) Most of the credit for this patch goes to GFXArtisan. His Laser Doom2 patch provided me with the idea and understanding of the whole process (you might want to d/l it and check it out--it's pretty cool; it can be found in AOL's software library). Thanks a lot for tryin' this thing out. Feel free to e-mail me with questions or comments at EISS9@aol.com
