============================================================================= *The Lightning Gauntlet Wad* for Doom ][ by Greg Kegel ============================================================================= This wad will replace the chainsaw in Id Software's Doom ][ with the lightning gauntlet (electric gloves) from Heretic, by the same company. I put a fair amount of time into this patch and I hope you like it as much I do. **************************************************************************** DISCLAIMER This wad file is not a product of Id, anything that may happen from this program is not their responsibility, and they will NOT give technical support for it. I am not liable for any damage(s) this wad file may cause to you hardware or software--but I don't think you should worry too much. This wad file is not under any warantee of any kind. This wad file was tested on a computer with the requirements for DOOM, and is not guaranteed to work on anything more or less, regardless of whether or not DOOM does work on your computer. LEGAL STUFF DOOM 2 is a copyright of ID Software. **************************************************************************** To run Doom ][ with the lightning gauntlet: -Unzip gauntlet.zip to the directory where Doom 2 is located -Run gauntbld.bat (this will build the gauntlet wad file) -If you want, you can delete the gauntbld.bat, gaunt.wad, and deusf.exe files -make sure the gauntlet.wad file in the directory where Doom 2 is located on your harddrive (or another directory of your choice), and run doom2.exe with the -file parameter C:\DOOM2\doom2 -file gauntlet.wad or C:\DOOM2\doom2 -file c:\dir\gauntlet.wad (where "DOOM2" is the directory where Doom 2 is and "dir" is where the gauntlet.wad file is.) **************************************************************************** On the off chance that you'd like a patch that installs the graphics directly into the doom2.wad (it can also remove them if you so choose), I have gauntpat.zip available upon request. If you liked this one, or even if you didn't, I also have another weapon replacement for Doom ][ (in both wad and patch form) that puts a lightsaber, as in Star Wars, in for the chainsaw. It should be up in AOL's software library soon so you might want to look for it. Lots of credit goes to GFXArtisan. His Laser Doom2 patch provided me with the idea and understanding of the whole process (you might want to d/l it and check it out--it's pretty cool; it can be found in AOL's software library). Thanks to the boys at id software and to you for tryin' this thing out. Feel free to e-mail me with questions or comments at EISS9@aol.com
