TFXTIPS2.TXT ------------ GENERAL TIPS FOR FLYING IN T.F.X. Here are a few pointers towards staying alive longer 1. Fuel, in the f117 and f22 the fuel situation is not critical, although on long missions you will have to refuel. In the efa however fuel is important, in order to conserve fuel you should fly at around 600 knots an 15-20,000 feet. Fuel tanks double the capacity of the efa. The afterburners sap fuel heavily so restrict their use for fighting or emergencies. 2. weapons, the weapons for your missions are selectable (exept for flashpoint missions), learn how to use each weapon (this is best done in the simulator section), and remember that everything can be destroyed by any weapon as long as it hits the target enough times. If you have a favourite weapon, use it. Ground targets are easily hit with most ground ordnance although some missiles only lock on to certain targets. Enemy planes are best tackled alone, if they have wingmen you can be out manoeuvered more easily. During a dogfight, switching to a full forward view can be very helpful but at the expense of not seeing your radar and warning panel. 3. missions, the primary thing to remember is dont die or get captured or you will have to start again. If this means quitting to dos from the in flight config menu and starting at that mission when you load tfx again, then do it. If you really can't seem to do a mission then there may be something you have missed or not noticed (perhaps a message missed halfway through a mission) In a mission you will be asked to attack aircraft, ground targets or protect something. If it is an aerial combat mission then you will have to shoot a number of planes, if you are unsure whether or not you have done the mission land at a friendly base, you will be rearmed if you have not completed the mission. In ground combat the key is finding the right target and destroying the important buildings, you wont stop a power station by blowing up a few chimnies, so go for the important looking buildings (they are usually the biggest), more than one building may have to be destroyed in order to have destroyed that target. In protect missions the aim is to stop something from being attacked in a certain time period. You may have destroyed everything in the area but your mission may not be completed until a certian time has elapsed. controls. C changes your lock on aircraft and some ground missiles x breaks lock on all lockable weapons (except those which lock automatically) alt and cursor keys operate the rudder (ineffective at high speed) ` brings up in game menu. Finally, if you want to avoid training altogether ,enrol, enter you first and last name and callsign then press control and enter to register the callsign. this should enrol you as 1st lt and you wont have to training. However it is advisable to do training as it contains missions to test your skill in a controlled evironment ( if you die then you start again on that mission )
