FalcCalc on ver "david (d.) berry" ------------------------------------------------------------ From: "Rick Lafford" Subject: Help with SAMs Yesssss, I'm finally back into Falcon after a year and some months layoff to build a house. I also lost my feed for the news letter around the same time so please bare with me if I ask a couple questions that have been around for awhile. I did try to get the FAQ from cactus.org but haven't been able to get on the machine during the hours I have available.. The questions: - Which is the "best" most stable version of Falcon3? - Is there a patch to make the MiG-19 more realistic? - Is there a patch to make the SA-7's more realistic? - I'm upgrading my joystick (original TMS) and TM Mark 1 throttle. How about some opinions on what I should look at and why. - Will Falcon 3 run well over a 14.4 modem connection? - Where it the FAQ so I don't have to bore everyone with my questions? Any help appreciated. I hope to have some fun flying H2H this winter in Upstate, NY. With 10" of snow forcast on the way.... I should have plenty of time. "Check Six" Rick (Ice) Lafford ------------------------------- From: robinson@lanology.com (Bob Robinson) Subject: WingMan Commands I have not found the bracket left or break wingman commands to be very useful in a many versus many scenerio. It is good for lining up on a maverick run when there is no air to air threat. I dont think it does any good though but, at least you feel more in control of the flight team. There are programs that let you edit the capabilities and aggression levels of your wingman. These are great for putting together a Top Gun flight team. Making the pilots more aggressive helps them to be more proactive in attacking long range air threats that always get tally on YOU first. You can send them off after an incoming air threat while you set up for the S&D run or fly close escort. The program I use is Strategic Falcon. Any Houston, Texas Falconers out there that would like to go heads up? Bob "Rockman" Robinson ("Check Six") ------------------------------- From: Michael Binder Subject: Re: Wingman commands Does anybody use any of the wingman commands? Not the easy ones like "Bypass Waypoint", "Previous Waypoint", "Return Home" etc. But the fighting ones like "Bracket Left/Right", "Break High/Low", "Drag Left/Right". I don't use these commands. The times I have tried, my wingmen acknowledged and then went about doing what they pleased. Most of the battles I have watched from a distance, I saw all the Falcon Pilot's massing on the tail of 1 nme aircraft until he was polished off, then they went to the next target. I have tried to have my wingmen 'break' when I saw my flight being bounced from behind, and he would acknowledge, turn in the indicated direction, then head back to base course. Hopefully F4 will add better control of wingmen, but without fancy setups (like using FLCS/TQS) with programmable keys, the interface for using them shall always be awkward. First off, your wingman's radar range is coverned by the waypoint type. In addition, for bracket to work, you need a long radar range waypoint AND you need to lock the guy up on your radar. I don't normally try drags with missile equipped enemy's. This is all by memory, which is fading more and more these days. Jim ------------------------------- From: "david (d.) berry" Subject: falcon utility .... FalcCalc on version 3.0E ??? Hello, I recently downloaded a utility called "FALCCALC" (flclc251.zip) and tried to run it with my version of Falcon, 3.0e, I have not been playing that long and didnt want to upgrade to OFT, 3.01, yet. Anyway, the version of FALCCALC that I have seems to require version Falcon 3.01 OFT. I think there must have been a version prior, because the .DOC mensions "whats new" in this version.... Anyone herd of it or know where I can get a version that will work with 3.0e ...... The utility sounds pretty cool for mission planing. Thanks for any help.. David Berry.
