It only takes a few seconds to accelerate from 450-800 knots. This is a problem which is connected with the frequency of the CPU. It is alos a problem which only appears in Falcon (both in HIFI/complex I think). Mig29 and Hornet fly o.k. on my DX4-100. There are several programs which slow down your computer. I can't remember the names right now. I could upload them to cactus if anyone is interested. Chera (nplm on CK) H.G. Dear David, December 1991, Falcon 3.0 is released, an exciting hobby became more popular: Flight sim mania... :) O.K. I'm a little bit exaggerating here. At that time, there was no P100, there was no Ps at all, the best machine you could get was a DX2-66. Now, 4 years later Pentium systems are out and will run faster especially with the 32 bit PCI video etc. Speed adjustment will work up to the 66 MHz machines, beyond that, I would say, wait for Falcon 4.0 Best, Gabriel Turk Spectrum HoloByte. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ From: David Lam Subject: Falcon3 Not Realistic!!! Admist all these talk of fine adjustments to Falcon 3's flight models for realism, it is strange that people are ignoring the gross errors in the flight model, which have a MUCH MORE important effect than the flight characteristics of A-10's or F-14's. What I am talking about is the acceleration and deceleration of the Falcon. It only takes a few seconds to accelerate from 450-800 knots. I have noticed this effect more profund on faster machines. I currently have a 486DX4-120 and the acceleration/deceleration performance is, I think, grossly unrealistic. Is there a way this could be overcome? If not, I am extremely disappointed in Spectrum Holobyte for overlooking the point of speed-adjustment for different machines. Surely it is extremely important in order to create a realistic flight-sim. Feedback would be welcome. ***************************************************************************** David Lam. This sometimes makes you miss what the other guy was saying OR causes your outgoing message to be blurped out. Can we fix this? Why am I the only one who has this problem or cares about it. What? What gives? Please atleast some good person verify!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kingfish ------------------------------- [[ End of digest Volume 8 : Issue 27 ]]
