"Robert H. Tullman" Subject: D Patch Apparition? A funny thing happened in the skies over the the Mediterranean... I was flying a mission out of Rosh Pina en route to the Baniyas refinery (OFT v. 3.01.1)...we were feet wet, swinging out over the sea to avoid overflying radar and SAM sites. Lots of traffic in the skies, including a C130. I got a Q view of the cargo plane and to my surprise I saw it had an escort....an F-16! I thought one of my flights was mixed up with the C130, and toggled through all the wingmen views...everyone was where they should have been...then it hit me...the canopy on that F16 was BLUE, not GOLD!!! Was this guy a ghost from the D Patch??? I didn't think any Allied F16's showed up except as Japan FSX's in the Kuriles...I *had* tweaked the theater a bit with Strategic Falcon, but had definitely NOT added that guy...he and the C130 were randoms pure and simple....Alas, I didn't think to turn on the VCR! Anyone seen anything like this? ------------------------------- From: mbatchel@cscns.com (Mark Batchelor, Technical writer/designer/researcher) Subject: Re: Falcon3 Modem Play >From: JONATHAN N PACE >Subject: Falcon3 Modem Play > >I'm looking for the Stinger.zip comms utility for falcon3. I've included the following correspondance between Stinger, (author of commstr program) and another cyberjock from CI$ back in February. let us all know if you find commstr 3.04 version please. Comet Comes eternal... ----------- ----------- 14_Feb 94 I believe the docs with 3.04 and 1.01 said something about NOT using the coolie patch. I could be wrong but I remember reading something like that about 3 am last morning. Kevin 'Towhood' Wenker ------------- ------------- 16_Feb 94 Dale, Yes, I am updating COOLIE.COM as well as all the other TSR's in SIMPAK.ZIP, tonight actually. :) I'll probally be uploading within the next week or two pending more COMMTSR testing. COMMTSR has been re-written to be more reliable and allow a connection in Campaign mode. At this point it looks like a high-speed UART will be needed for Campaign mode, but more testing is required. However, it has a proper fast link to the internet and will allow up to 3 simultaneous users. It will take a little while to get the majority of files from neon onto my box (depending on when I can get into neon) but as of now the following are available: Falcon3: f304 and mig103 patches Most of the red flag missions Most of the support programs from the programds directory hitech-sim 1.0c revision patch for European Tornado TFX patches 1 and 2 Tornado Time Compressor 1.0 Andrew ------------------------------- From: jimc@math.ucla.edu Subject: Apology to the AI's Well, I owe an apology to my AI's: using AVTR I sat on one SEAD guy's tail through the whole mission and counted missiles. He fired two, then delay, then six; he had two Shrikes and 6 Mavericks (and fuel). So AI's do fire Shrikes appropriately. So now he's out of missiles, and at his next waypoint there are at least two SA6's... There's more juice to be gotten out of that tape; I can prove once and for all whether two AI's will fire at the same target, and whether they will launch at non-AAA targets when the Shilkas are smoked. It seems like cheating that the SA6's are allowed to launch, then turn off their radars. The old Nike needed guidance all the way to the target, and while the SA6 probably has a much better terminal guidance radar, I would expect that it would need guidance for most of the journey, or at least during the first stage burn. Does anyone know more about real SA6's? James F.
