Now, Falcon no longer generates digitized sounds. I'm loading the Sound Blaster emulation TSR, but the only way I can get hear AWACS and Bitchin' Betty now is to select PC speaker instead of Sound Blaster. Anyone have a a solution? Are there patches more recent than '3.0D' that don't require buying an add-on? My other games are working, by the way. The Mediavision manual mentions that Falcon has a problem, so I can't be the first one to run into this. The manual suggests turning off turbo mode, but that didn't work. My attempts to connect to the archives at ONION.RAIN.COM have failed (too busy), or I would have researched this myself. The setup: Falcon 3.0D Pro Audio Spectrum 16 (Emulating SB on IRQ 5) Roland CML-32 Sound Module (for music & some sound fx; it still works) NEC CDR-84 CDROM DOS 6.2 4MB RAM 486-66SLC2 CPU, Alaris motherboard, 128k cache CH FLightstick CH Gamecard 3 I'm looking forward to any and all replies. I' Also, what's the state-of-the-art in utilities? Is there a shareware program that performs some of the functions (resurrecting pilots and resupply in particular) of the old falcnr? (Since the available supplies (especially fuel) are so inadequate for campaigns, and so many wingmen die in really stupid ways, I don't want to start a campaign with the new versions without some way of addressing these problems . . . ) Bruce Macintosh bruce@bnkl01.astro.ucla.edu UCLA Department of Astronomy Infrared Imaging Detector Lab ------------------------------- From: cisko@d0tokensun.fnal.gov (Greg Cisko) Subject: Comm help given :-) > From: roveda@ccwf.cc.utexas.edu (Roberto Roveda) > Subject: Comm help needed. > > > HELP WITH COMMUNICATION First off, I was wondering under what conditions you cannot use COM2 or COM1 for your modem. So I use "PF.COM c13" which gives COM1 the > (supposedly) right address for COM4 (sorry if I'm making this sound > complicated.) Alot of times if you have COM1,COM2 and COM4 your computers setup program will assign COM1-COM3. I ran across this trying to sort out problems I was having running Xremote on my 386/16. It is a Xwindow program for modems. I turns my PC at home into a NCD Xterminal. They solution for mapping the comports properly is the SET COMx DOS command. This is to be put in your autoexec.bat to run during bootup. You can then force your comports to the proper configuration. > Roberto Roveda > roveda@ccwf.cc.utexas.edu > > Thanx in advance to all those who answer. > From: "michael dobbs (micro bio)" > Subject: Modem connections > > connect...". AT%C0^M will disable data compression. AT%M0^M disables compression. I'm not 100% sure what the difference between the 2 are :) AT&W0^M will store active profile in location 0. > > Moral is: > > "If it ain't broke REALLY bad...don't fix it!!" > > This is basicly how I have my modem setup & falcon worked fine last time I tried H2H with the modem (3.02) and 3.04 in IHHD. I don't know what sort of participation you'll get, I won't be calling long distance to fly Falcon... -Jeff ] Gentleman, its time to find out who's the best Falcon Jock. You need to have the latest versions of Falcon 3.04, Mig29 1.02, or Hornet 1.01. You have to have at least a 14.4 modem, and use the latest commtsr 1.03(this can be downloaded from Check Six, Simpak.zip). Start sending me your names and I'll start setting up the opponents. After we have a list of opponents you will be responsible for getting intouch with your opponent to work out the details of the fight(who's calling, baud rate, etc.) Rules of Engagement: -Best 2 out of 3 fights wins -Red/Blackouts ON, -Limited Ammo ON -Limited Fuel ON -Limited Chaff\Flares ON -Must pass each other once, then fights on and you can turn and engage. -In case of both draw (both pilots going down) redo the engagement. Winners will e-mail me the results and I will post them and set up round 2. What I need to get started is your name, call sign, and phone number. I saw several responses > boosting Hornet. I couldn't disagree more. Total 100% agreement. MiG-29 is the best thing that ever happened to the Falcon 3.0 series, and is the only one I play regularly. It is very challenging to fly, which means that it may be frustrating to new F3-pilots, but once mastered it becomes a fantastic dogfighter. The flight model feels excellent, better than either F3 or Hornet (note that I say "feels", since I'm no expert w.r.t. actual flight characteristics). Hornet is fun, too, but except for the carrier landing challenge, it's almost identical to Falcon 3. And the d*mn roll rate is way too sensitive. And it's a lousy dogfighter, which is my main interest. __ ,-------------------------------, \ \ _ _ | ++don; | \**\ ___\/ \...........| | X*#####*+~~\_\ | MCCRADY at TOROLAB6 | o/\ \ | mccrady@vnet.ibm.com | \__\ `-------------------------------' ------------------------------- From: slb512@serveru1.naic.wpafb.af.mil (stuart butts/taai/75033) Subject: Re: Recent Crashes > Date: Wed, 30 Mar 1994 09:26:10 -0500 (EST) > From: "michael dobbs (micro bio)" > Subject: Recent Crashes > To: Falcon3@onion.rain.com > > Is there any chance that any Canadian "Theatre" will be created for the > Hornet...either SH or Shareware?
