Jeff Beadles Hornet's Rudder Douglas Hanson Had an interesting experience today. While flying a S&D mission I lost >my engine and successfully made an emerengcy landing. I was just sitting >there on the ground when I decided to send my wingman home. His response >to my command was "Negative. Maintaining visual contact." He just >circled around me. Was he waiting for me to get rescued? Finally >a mig-29 came along and destroyed me on the ground! After that my >wingman flew home. Why did he ignore my command? >Clarence J. Wow! Just when I thought I heard about everything there was to hear in regards to F3 (add ons not included :) this comes along. Never seen it and never heard the "Negative, maintaining visual contact" message either! SOunds like he is refusing to go while maintaining a visual on you and circling to give the JG Giant a reference point to come pick you up. But that is specualtion. If it is that, is sounds like a neat feature that I never experienced (usually I just end mission or eject.) Now, if I was sitting on the ground after being shot down, I would certainly look into the option of getting out of the plane and finding cover or whatever. To do this you would have to either end the mission or eject. In that situation, with your wingie refusing to leave, maybe that is what SH had in mind--> get out of the plane, mission over. But as I said, that is pure speculation. :^) Scott in WV Morgan@wvugeo.wvnet.edu ------------------------------- From: lefebvre@pbush.com (Sting) Subject: Flight Models Hey all, I was wondering what would be the best flight model to use in Falcon 3.0e to get the best performance that is closest to the "real" thing? I heard many bad things about complex and have tried it and I can't understand why you can't dive or climb better than what is modelled. Ofcourse this has probably been discussed at great lengths. So out of the other options, what would you suggest. Or is this a matter of personal preference? I am not looking for the easy way just a realistic kind of flight behavior. See ya.... Instead using the rudders turns the nose about 10 degrees either direction, but when the rudder is released the nose points back to the original direction. I found the rudders very useful when trying to line up for a landing in Falcon and wonder if this is a bug in Hornet or just something peculiar to that aircraft. Thanks for the help! Douglas Hanson University of Georgia dhanson@uga.cc.uga.edu ------------------------------- From: rogers@sol.instrumental.com (Bob Rogers) Subject: KCC utilities KCC sells a Falcon utility package, a MiG set, and, I think, a F18 set. It's not clear from their brochure whether or not the MiG is also usable for Falcon, of if the F18 one is usable for all three. If anybody has these and can clarify, I'd appreciate it. I'd also like to know if the utilities are significantly enhanced from the shareware ones. Thanks. - -- Bob Rogers Internet: rogers@instrumental.com Instrumental, Inc. My problem is that I have never flown with a flight stick before. What I am hoping for is some advice on what is out there, what it does, how it interfaces with Falcon, and what I can expect to pay (new or used). If there is a FAQ out there that would be fine or feel free to E-mail me (unless there are others out there with this question and we need to bulk up the Digest a bit:)). Thank you so very very much!
