I don't run Stealth. I was getting the same problems. I posted a "solution", but after 5 days in one campaign and 3 days in another (game time), wierd stuff started to happen: 1) F3: Was assigned to escort 3 F4's on a strike mission... Problem: I ran the mission 3 times, and the F4's never showed... 2) M29: After day 4 ended, there was a Stalemate in Kuwait decalred. Problem: I only failed 2 missions, they weren't in a row, the allies had 3%, and we had the rest - and a STALEMATE was declared?? On Day 5??? etc. So, I ran both resets, and am now trying the following: Running around 4 missions in, say, Mig29, going through the 5th mission all the way to TAKEOFF, hitting TAKEOFF, and after I'm in the 'pit, hitting ALT-X. Then I back up the campaign files using MigCalc. THEN, I do all that for Falcon. When I return to Mig-29, I _restore_ those campaign files using MigCalc. Theory: The campaign files won't get corrupted since they're backed-up in a different directory... We'll see how this flies... -The Doctor ------------------------------- From: "Don McCrady" Subject: Re: IA Scores jay.lee@msbbs.mn.org (Jay Lee) writes: > According to Bornstein, IA scoring goes as such: [Bornstein scoring method deleted] Just a quick observation that Falcon 3.02 seems to have completely revamped their IA scoring formulas. Air targets score higher than ground targets. My high score in pre-3.02 days was well over a million. Now a good IA romp gets me less than 100,000. I wish there were some way in IA to skip over the first dweeb-level opponents and get right to the ACE opponents. ___ _ | __\_\_o____/_| ,---------------------------, <[___\_\_-----< ------------| ++don; | | o' `---------------------------' ------------------------------- From: "Don McCrady" Subject: Re: Corrupted squadron files problem found writes: >I had a problem where if I had squadrons active in Falcon and I flew Mig29, >somehow my squadron files in falcon got corrupted and I had to run the reset >program or my pc would hang at takeoff. I had the latter problem the other day (can't create file); ruined a perfectly good Kuriles campaign. I don't use QEMM. What is Stealth Mode anyway? I usually run under OS/2 2.1. Perhaps its memory management does something similar to "Stealth Mode"? I occasionally run under DOS, since that's head- to-head doesn't work for me under OS/2, but again I don't use QEMM. I guess until I know exactly what Stealth Mode is, I remain skeptical that the "can't create file" problem is anything but a Falcon/MiG-29 bug. ___ _ | __\_\_o____/_| ,---------------------------, <[___\_\_-----< ------------| ++don; | | o' `---------------------------' ------------------------------- From: 16-Sep-1993 0114 Subject: Some things (Bugs??) Regarding Head 2 Head modem conbat... I have also yet to get a modem 2 modem conection to work, But direct connections mostly work fine. We use 38400 as the link speed which 'seemed' the fastest, systems are 486dx50 and 486sx25 both with 20Mb RAM. One thing we have noticed is that the answer machine never updates the 'speed' and 'alt' settings when setting up campaign waypoints. I guess this is a bug, but small a one. Anyway back to the modem problems, we are trying 2400baud which would be painfuly slow true enough. We always get 'hung' in the same spot ie we get past the frist couple of wheels and dots and end up on (i think) the last set of dots about 10-12 (in modem head2head ie non campaign). The modem RX and TX on my system which is the caller are nearly full on, while the answer system is Tx'ing only. We both disabled mnp as with out this we would not get passed the frist screen on dots. On another problem I setup a RFM to try a hone my 'wild weasle' skills as I always get SAM up the blow hole, when ever I try SEAD. So I set up 4 enemy ground forces loaded to the hilt with SAMs and AA. When me and my 2 winges try to takeoff I get a blank screen some disk access and nothing more. This has happened before and I find I have to deselect 'some' of the enemy forces, be they air or ground, and then try again. About 2-3 'units' does the job. Is there some limit to the number of enemy units that can be exceded with out the system realising it? As I keep telling my wife this is the best combat sim price/performance wise on the market I can't wait for the A10 sim to be released, what year was that... :) Stephen Alice Springs Out Back Oz. ------------------------------- From: cisko@d0tokensun.fnal.gov (Greg Cisko) Subject: Re: Falcon/OFT 3.01 with UltraStor 34F VLB SCSI & FAQ & Debug > From: spot@clank.optron.ingr.com (Scott Wood) > Subject: F3 with UltraStor 34F VLB SCSI bd > I've been running F3 on my system for some time w/o any problems. Besides this should qualify as a simulation. > are often questions that You answer in the FAQ. > > Maybe another FAQ for section 6.2 (Debug Mode): > What coordinates do I have to type (t-mode) in order to get to > some place on the map? The only FOR SURE coordinates I've seen were in Bournsteins' book. There is basicly no way to know other than trial & error. If you are asking about the FORMAT of the coordinates, then I believe it is 2 eight or 10 digit numbers. I think you can see your present coordinates when you enter debug mode. Which brings up another point. DEBUG MODE... Simply doing [pause],[tab] is not considered "debug mode". Dubug mode is started by typing [D] AFTER [pause],[tab]. This should probably be explained in the FAQ also. Back to the origional point... I think you current coordinates are the first 2 [eight or ten digit] numbers you see in the block of numbers that appear in debug mode. The bottom number is framerate. Now hit [pause] again, & you start flying with the debug mode numbers still on the screen. (I was using this last night to test out my new PC [486/66 DX2 VLB]. Some LUNATIC had claimed that falcon was choppy on his 486/66. I wanted to check it out. The lowest my framerate got was 19 FPS [near the ground].) You can also see your coordinates change as you fly around. Greg Cisko P.S. Great job on the FAQ, Brian!! ------------------------------- [[ End of digest Volume 4 : Issue 62 ]]
