I had to recalibrate everything after the update, but complex mode seems fine. I flew Hi-fi for a bit, and it seems to be easier to control than before. (It might just be that I haven't flown hi-fi for a while.) -Jeff - -- Jeff Beadles jeff@onion.rain.com ------------------------------- From: edhresko@eos.ncsu.edu Subject: joystick and MiG29... and the joysitck worked fine, and so did my thrustmaster. Are the computer opponants we fly against subject to the same G-force criteria? I don't think so. For example: A SUPER Mig19 (that has terrorized just about everyone) can pull at least 9 G's *ALL DAY*! This is why they are such a terror. Apart from HiFi flight modeling problems, I would be happy if this was evened out. After all an F16 can out perform just about anything... As long as it's not a computer generated plane that can pull 9 G's ALL day. I do not use redout/blackout for this reason. > > As for me, with REALISTIC, I've been shot down by a single ace MiG-29 > repeatedly. >>> I black out and become a sitting duck. <<< Boy, I'm > depressed (not :-) in the old days I used to make it flying the HiFi > model, now I cannot seem to manage even in complex. The 'puter generated pilots still use the unrealistic /excessive G-forces. Prodigy: GRTV13B -MLK Jr. ------------------------------- From: RAZORSEDGE@delphi.com Subject: MiG-29 Joystick bug I am part of the Falcon Challenge Ladder on Compuserve, where the majority of the pilots have received MiG-29, and reported problems with the joystick calibration routine. I didn't think it was too much of a big deal. They said that the problem was solved by reversing the calibration input, but I downloaded the F3 3.02 Upgrade patch this morning and there is a major error in it. I use a Pro Audio Spectrum 16 Sound board's joystick port, but I am not the only one who found the plane...in my case since MiG did not arrive yet, the F-16, flew like it had 90 ton weights attached to it. It was REAL muddy in response. With an uneven roll rate...left was more fluid than right. Actually rolling right was REAL choppy. I pressed right it rolled a little, then I had to recenter it for more movement to roll right. If this was the first time I played Falcon I would've never touched it again. My stick works fine with 3.01.1 tjhough again. My stick works GREAT with 3.01.1 though, so the problem is the 3.02 upgrade patch. SH screwed up royally. Anyone else here have that problem? Anyone else here have that problem? >John "Havok" Nicolaou I have installed the 3.02 patch without Mig 29 (apparently SH hosed me on delivery :-( ) I have noticed just the opposite. To me it seems the F16 in complex is MORE responsive to the point of being difficult (make that more difficult) to land and fly. The joystick cal. routine worked fine for me though my "hat" on my FCS does nothing. It will work in other sims. I will wait to install the whole Mig 29 to see if that is the problem To better address this maybe if people would post their success with Mig 29 or F 3.02 and their set up we could get a better feel for the possible culprit. As for myself, I run on the following: 486/25sx, 8 mb ram, SB regular, Diamond SS 24X, CH Auto III game card, FCS, WCS, DOS 6.0 (No DBLSPC) Standard Autoexec, Config., Central Point PC-cache (2 meg) w/ write back on, MSDOS Mouse driver, EMM386, CH Auto III game card calibration routine in Autoexec.
