I am new to this list, (but have been playing falcon since the day it was released), and have a few questions that you may be able to answer. First of all, I have Falcnr and f3maps. Are their any other utitilities I "should" have? FalcCalc sounds like a wonderful utility, but is it only for OFT? Or can us regular 3.0d owners use it too? Should I get OFT anyway? SH sells it for $40US. Is that a good price? I like the idea of ROE in campaigns. ROE is only in the Kurile Islands though right? Has anyone seen the new game from SH? I believe it is based on the British Tornado. Any thoughts, reviews, prices? Thanks for the info, and I am looking forward to hearing your replies... -- Brian Larkin ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Brian D. All, We have a new network set up here at the University. We were going to test out the network in the only REAL way we knew how...by loading F3 and trying some network play. The network is based on Netware 3.11. Though I am not a network person, I do know that this type of network is NOT peer to peer. It is the other kind who's name escapes me. Anyway, we ran into some problems that I hope maybe someone out there can help us with (yes even the network manager is puzzled). 1. The network is using a file server and client machines. The cient machines are Gateway 486/33sx's w/ about 6 mb of ram as I recall. After 2 hours of jumbling the Autoexec's and config.sys's, we could not A. Get both network drivers to load high (ipx and netx(?)) B. Get enough free ram to run F3 when Emm386 was running as a memory manager (we could when we said EMM386 noems) eventhough there was next to *nothing* in our config and auto. files. 3. Finally w/o mice and no expand. memory we loaded F3 anyway just to see what we could do if anything. Everything (OFT w/ Patch) loaded fine and each machine could bring up F3 independently and actually play it. We tried Multiplayer allied. No go, the master machine needs expanded memory for that. We tried multiplayer duel. The machines would hook up and the master would identufy the players, but when I hit go.....we would get 2 bars, then lock up city. We tried 2 players duel and the same thing happened, lock up. We got a null modem cable and hooked up tow machines. We actually got in quite a few 2 player duels via Direct connect. 2 Player Allied was not so lucky. We got near the entry of the sim then an error stopped us. "Unable to crearte Madbuff. (?)) files" We did have file creation privledges (sp?) turned on BTW. So, do any of you network types out there have any hints or suggestions? Has anyone got F3 to run on Netware 3.11? Does anyone know the Internet address for Gateway so we can find out why both network files will not load high on those particualr client machines but they will on other machines in the lab? Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care? Thanks to all in advance for any possible help you can spare! :^) Scott in Sunny WV Morgan@wvugeo.wvnet.edu ------------------------------- [[ End of digest Volume 3 : Issue 32 ]]
