By clicking on the head of the rightmost person in the main menu (the command center), you'll see the big screen flash "Yes Sir!". It basically allows you to choose the type of mission you want to fly. My favorite is the one where you go after a train. It's guarded by a bunch of SU-27s that does nothing except sit there (turkey shoot!). Put the scaling factor to one and see if you could spot the train :-) Take some Mavericks with you. Aim for the head! My second favorite is UMF scramble. I let my wingies do all the work while I go on a little S&D looking for that long range radar on that island just on the other side of the strait. Lots of MiG-21s to splash all by yourself, just make sure you're wingies got enough goodies to take out the UMFs in case they don't get the TU-22s in time. Make sure they got AMRAAMs for the MiG-31s too. Last time I played that mission I got nailed by a pair of MiG-19s while I was lined up and ready to land. By the time I spot them, it was too late. I thought my rear was covered by a couple of nearby friendlies. Oh well, should of watched my six more... Why do I even bother with the radar you ask? Well, play that mission and see for yourself... -Rob primus@netcom.com - -- ------------------------------- From: MGILBERT@delphi.com Subject: ThrustMaster WCS Mark II For those who were asking, or who are just waiting: ThrustMaster CS (thrustmast@aol.com) told me to expect the WCS II around July. I've been putting off purchasing a WCS at all for a few months now since I've heard of the Mark II... This is the exact reason I'm keeping DOS 5.0 & Stacker 3.0. Stacker & mouse are loaded HiGH & I get 628K free conventional memory. I can stack & re-size my drives as easy as I can copy files. I can stack a floppy (2.88 Megs) & use that floppy on a machine that doesn't have stacker!! I don't believe DBLSPACE does that. I can also unstack my drive painlessly. That is without deleting everything on the drive. The best part though, is that I haven't found any program that didn't work on a stacked drive. Even Strike Commander ran... >Also, I read something here about a "Kurile Islands Cheat Mode". >Do you need OFT to get the Kuriles? I didn't see it as a theater in >my game (3.0d). Yes, the Kurile Islands comes only with OFT. The cheat is that YOU can select the exact mission you will go on. I used this feature to kill an enemy train. I got a neat ACMI showing the train getting wasted & 40-50 passangers pouring out of the burning cars. None of the recent inovative flight GAMES/sims has that type of detail. (Okay maybe I did see a Camel in F15III.) In this reguard F3 is head & shoulders above the rest. Greg Cisko ------------------------------- From: reyes@elspeth.la.asu.edu (David Reyes) Subject: Mail ordering Thrustmaster In Falcon3 Digest v.3 i.27 someone suggested that better prices and "un-returned" Thrustmasters should be purchased by mail-order. Could someone please post a good source to mail order a Thrustmaster from, possibly the manufacturer or other reputable source. THANKS. I have been playing Falcon for several months now, and it has made all my other flight games/simulators totally boring. The Falcon3 Digest has opened up some new dimensions of Falcon and has brought further enjoyment. It also keeps me from having to filter through all the junk in alt.games.flight-sims. Keep up the good work. DR ------------------------------- From: "Kostas (K.) Siomalas" Subject: Re: I wanna fly for the Thunderbirds! Speaking of formation flying, on the way home after a flawless mission in the Kuriles, I hit the shift f key a few times (until I got a chuckling response from my wingman) to get all three planes really close, and we entered the landing pattern in a tight formation. On the final approach as I was slowing down to ~210 kts I heard my wingman crying "flame-out flame-out", I saw parts flying around, and at the same time the warning sound "caution" came on (no warning lights on the panel though). I landed the plane safely but my wingman crash-landed close to the field (he actually did a pretty good job). As it turned out after reviewing the tape my wingman did not slow down in time and he ran into my right wing! As a result in the briefing it was stated that 2 F-16 were lost and one pilot was injured (myself)! The other wingman landed safely and both of them escaped unhurt! Boy, this sim is full of surprises and excitement unmatched my any other game! ...Kostas ------------------------------- [[ End of digest Volume 3 : Issue 28 ]]
